Now Open: CalABLE!

December 18, 2018

CalABLE is California’s ABLE account program. ABLE accounts let people with disabilities save for the future, without affecting Medi-Cal, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), CalFresh, and most other benefits.

If you have a qualifying disability that began before you turned 26, you can deposit:

  • Up to $19,000 each year in an ABLE account from any source (including family, friends, and benefits)
  • Another $15,060 from your own earned income (if you have a job).

You can visit CalABLE at calable.ca.gov. You can compare California’s ABLE Plan with other ABLE programs at the ABLE National Resource Center.
