SSI Recipients Can Now Report Wages by Telephone |
Social Security has introduced a new automated wage reporting system for SSI recipients. It is called the SSI Telephone Wage Reporting System or SSITWR. The system allows SSI recipients to report their work income via telephone in the beginning of each month. SSI recipients who do not wish to report their wages by telephone can still mail or bring paystubs into a oficina local del Seguro Social. There are certain limitations in using the Telephone Wage Reporting System. For example, SSITWR will not allow deductions for certain work incentive programs. You cannot use the wage reporting system, if you:
SSI recipients (or recipients of both SSI and SSDI) with no work incentive deductions other than the Student Earned Income Exclusion can use the wage reporting system. SSI recipients can call to report wages during the first six days of the month. You cannot report wages using the telephone after the 6th day of the month. |
